Federica's story

I left Italy in 2008 after university for what was supposed to be a three-month internship at the Italian Cultural Institute but London stole my heart and I never went back. From a young age, my mum passed on her love of theatre and cinema to me, but it was only when I moved to the UK that I started realising that I could maybe have a career in one of these industries. It took longer than I envisaged and it involved going back to university for a postgraduate degree and a few random jobs in between (including being a theatre usher, which required watching Les Miserables six days a week for over a year—yes, the songs still haunt me to this date) but eventually I got there.

Trafalgar Releasing with its diverse catalogue that ranges from theatre shows to concerts, from films and documentaries to operas and ballet feels like an ideal fit for me. I love being able to play a part in providing audiences with a unique cinema experience and it’s incredibly rewarding to read on social media how happy and grateful people are when they are able to see, in cinemas, events that they might never have been able to attend in person.

My proudest achievement at Trafalgar so far has been to successfully handle the distribution of the back to back global releases of Coldplay A Head Full of Dreams and record-breaking BTS: Burn the Stage, followed closely by safely carrying in one piece Sir Ian McKellen’s birthday cake from my flat all the way to the BFI for the McKellen: Playing the Part event.

When not working and not at the theatre or the cinema, I can be found spending time with my friends, discovering one of the many amazing restaurants in London, exploring the city by foot, binge watching a worrying amount of TV shows or trying to dust off my French.
